Porchlight helps people notice a missed check-in. You turn watching on, set a window, and choose a trusted ICE contact. If there is no check-in (and no supporting activity signal) in time, that contact gets an alert - with a map link when location is available. You can also send I’m home, or use auto-arrive places so friends and family get a ping when you get home.
Yes - that is a core goal. Porchlight is built so the person being watched and the people looking out for them do not need the same phone brand, unlike Find My Friends which stays in Apple’s ecosystem. The first public release ships on iOS; Android and full cross-device care are on the roadmap.
Both. Adults living alone use watching for peace of mind. Families use it when kids or teens are out. Friends use I’ve arrived / auto-arrive after a night out. Same product - different reasons to care.
No. Auto-arrive places are on-device geofences. On enter you get a short confirm, then I’ve arrived is sent. Watching may use location for safety probes and optional map links on alerts - not a continuous track for others to watch.
No. Porchlight is not a medical device and is not a substitute for emergency services (911 / 112). It is a missed check-in and arrival ping product.
